Busy Little Hamster Checking In

Hey, it's me. Sorry I have been MIA for the past couple of weeks. Life has been quite busy. I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew. Starting an Etsy shop is crazy (who knew there was oh-so-much-more to it than just selling your wares.). Then I decided I wanted to have a solid social media presence— Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, oh my! Oh, let's throw in starting a blog. Yikes!

All of this is new territory for me. There is a very steep learning curve to each of these endeavors.  So when I add all of this together I have been running around expending lots of time, effort, and energy but not really accomplishing much. I just can't get my arms around all of it. It's the “whack-a-mole” syndrome. Deal with something over here and all hell is breaking loose over there or something is dying of neglect somewhere else.
As many of you know, I love being organized in life. I have lists upon lists for all this. I have all kinds of planning apps on my phone (FYI — I still haven't found the app that works for me.) I have two paper calendars, one electronic calendar, and two paper planners but I still haven't developed an overall system to manage all there is to do. Oh. And I would like to have a personal life — time to spend with family & friends, time to expand my yoga practice, time to just sit and enjoy life.
So, I think I need to step back (maybe several steps, lol) and look at the big picture. What is it I'm trying to accomplish? What are my overall goals? Once I have my goals in front of me, then I can decide what activities need to be completed to reach my goals. And once I have chosen the activities, I can determine the tasks that I need to do each day to work toward accomplishing my goals. (Sounds straightforward, doesn't it?) Well, the process is very straightforward.  It's the execution of the plan that requires attention and perseverance with a good dose of flexibility, humor & realistic timeframes thrown in.

First step….step back and contemplate my overall goals.  I think the thing I need to remember is my time is limited and, perhaps, I can't take on everything I'm doing now. Maybe I need to prioritize all this stuff and start with the most important goals and activities.  Then as I get my arms around what I'm doing then I can add more activities and tasks to my routine.

So, stay tuned.  I’ll keep you advised as to what I am doing and what this grand organizational plan looks like.

Thanks for stopping by,
Laurie
